All over the world, there are animal lovers who are unable to spend time with the animals that they so enjoy due to allergies. If the individual is around animals that they have an allergic reaction to, sometimes the result is a minor reaction, but other times the reaction is more severe. As a result, there is now a market that caters to people who are trying to locate and secure an allergy free pet for their home.
An allergy free cat or an allergy free dog may seem far fetched, but the truth is that these animals exist today. They are known as lifestyle pets because of their ability to be implemented into the homes of individuals that have a more discretionary lifestyle due to allergies. Many people are just now learning about the allergy free dog breeds and allergy free cats that are able to fulfill this requirement and be successfully included in a person’s life which would otherwise be unable to be done, because of allergies. In some cases there is a waiting list for these types of animals, but in most cases these animals can be purchased either immediately or within a matter of weeks.
Allerca® Cats
If a person has an allergic reaction to a cat, most doctors and individuals will recommend avoiding cats in order to keep the allergy under control. However, now Allerca® has been able to come up with an allergy free cat as an alternative to avoiding and not owning felines. These allergy free cat lifestyle pets can be ordered online for $3,950. There are payment plans available and Allerca® will work with individuals in order to help them realize their dreams of owning an allergy free cat. The allergy free cat purchase will include mandatory spaying or neutering of the animal, a microchip for the allergy free cat, and vaccinations for the 12 week old kitten, which is the age at which the allergy free cat is sold.
By looking at the genetics of the cat, the Allerca® research and development team was able to identify the gene that is most responsible for the allergic reactions in humans, known as the Fel d 1 gene. Through breeding process, this team was able to eventually create a cat that produces a varied form of the Fel d 1 gene. As a result, these kittens are hypoallergenic in the traditional sense. People that are allergic to the Fel d 1 protein that is produced in normal cats do not have the same reaction to the allergy free cat that Allerca® is able to produce through simple breeding procedures.

A Look at Allergy Free Dog Breeds
There are also certain breeds of dogs that are in existence now without so much concentration being spent on the science of the animal so that they do not produce allergies in humans. For example, the Labradoodle is a hybrid of a Labrador and a Poodle. This dog is said to be an allergy free dog, but there are quite a number of allergy free dog breeds that individuals can investigate if they are otherwise allergic to dogs.
Unlike with the Allerca® cat, there is no corporation right now that is established as concentrating on genetically and scientifically altering an allergy free dog breed, rather there are several known breeds of dog that are capable of triggering less of an, or no, allergic reaction in people with allergies. Some of the other popular breeds of dog that are generally characterized as being allergy free dog breeds also go on to include the Bedlington Terrier, the Irish Water Spaniel, the Maltese, and the Schnauzer. There are no dogs that are currently being marketed as 100% allergen free, but these types of breeds are as close as a person to get to a completely allergy free dog breed. The price of these dogs will vary depending on what breed it is, where it is bought and from whom or where the allergy free dog was purchased.

The Great Debate
There are many people who feel that animals should not be genetically altered in order to result in creating less or no dander, which contributes to causing allergies in some people. Many people debate between offering scientific help for people who want to be able to own animals that they love but are allergic to, and people who feel like genetically altering or scientifically breeding animals can create a type of cruel environment for the animals. Since the allergy free cat and allergy free dog are fairly new to the media, it is causing quite the opinionate reaction in many people. However, in the United States there are no laws banning this type of activity and lifestyle animals open up hope and possibilities to people who would otherwise not be able to enjoy this type of opportunity.
These animals are fairly expensive in most cases, and that helps to contribute to the price of using science to engineer these animals. Some people feel that the procedure never should have been done to begin with, and so these animals are too highly priced. However, others can not put a price on the happiness and joy that is brought into their lives by being able to own an allergy free cat or an allergy free dog.
